Should you take extra vitamins every day?

Doctors have for long resisted telling people that extra vitamin and mineral supplementation is recommended. Nutritionists have sat on the fence saying that a balanced diet is best. Of course it is. And of course there is no need for this on a day-to-day nonstop basis. But more and more research now shows that after a certain age, for a variety of reasons adding on a general purpose vitamin-mineral formulation is a good idea.

My own experience? I have taken a combination of Vitamins B complex, E, C, beta carotene, Omega3,6,9 for many many years now certainly regularly since menopause. And I have to say that these have served me well in many ways: raised immunity above all.
