Diabetics, replace carbs with nuts…pistachios in particular

Our life gets nuttier than ever before!! Now we are told to eat nuts to heart’s content, literally, any time we like. The Group of Three (almonds, walnuts, pistachios) have become the preferred snack, the preferred source of antioxidants and omega 3 and the preferred lifestyle statement. So of an evening if you were to open a bottle of good red wine and put out three bowls of almonds, walnuts and pistachios and snack on about 50 gm of each you will have before dinner safely and effectively taken your daily quota of some key antioxidants which would otherwise only be available in the form of pills or capsule.

Pistachios are the latest nuts to be research and it turns out that they could likely beat the other two out on many fronts. Although I doubt that the traditional love we have for almonds and walnuts can really be replaced by pistachios. But then all we need to do in add in some pistachios to the nut intake in our daily diet.  We now have excellent imported California pistachios available in India.
